Not the lasers though, those require thorium reactors and quite frankly I don't trust the rest of the world with them. The primary methods here are by researching SAM systems capable of dealing with UFOs, which we will want to do anyway while we get our laser systems online and then use combinations of the two to prevent the invaders from being able to focus on anti-kinetic, anti-thermal, or anti-explosive defenses, and then either leasing the patents out and/or manufacturing and selling them directly. Imagine what we could do with SHIVs, or just the base real time drone interaction technology. We have money, E115, and manufactured Stalinium, and soon to be processed forms of the latter two, and they presumably have intact alien tech, human sourced adaptations of Alien tech, interrogations and autopsies of the invaders (as well as live and dead specimens if we are not satisfied with their reports), the latest in non-Tropico human made technology, and possibly MELD. This also includes the united military force (XCOM) that many nations around the world have agreed to mutually fund. We have raw and processed resources that we want to trade with the world, and we have money that we want to spend for the raw and processed resources of others. In regards to helping our brothers and sisters around the world, there are three ways we can do this. There are many reasons for this, but the relevant one is summed as "They do not provide sufficient resources for a strategic military power to make use of them, especially when weighed against the cost in lives and especially when we can mine and manufacture said resources."
That gets us access to functioning alien technology while also allowing us to avoid UFO missions and keep our military funding focused on blowing up the invaders into the void.Īs you may note, I have a loathing for UFO missions. XCOM can focus their military missions on the rest of the world, and pursue those other methods of resource/tech acquisition, which we can then trade for with our native resources if we so desire. That means that we can have a policy of complete destruction against all invaders, as they honestly do not offer anything that cannot be created by the sweat and effort of Tropico's scientists. We've already proven to be able to make new weaponry without "Alien Weapon Fragments" so that just leaves "Elerium" and "Alien Materials" remaining as important research resources. In all seriousness: With our local sources of E115 and Stalinium, as well as the Psychic Toucans, we can do the vast majority of important research without fighting a single invader. But not a drop of Tropico blood need be spilled for those who seek to invade Tropico's soil! With our source of Tropicanum and manufacturing of Stalinium, we don't need to send our troops into downed UFOs to acquire such resources for research and manufacturing purposes, but that does not mean that we will not shoot down any who enter into Tropico Air Space without proper documentation! No, we will do our part in the protection against these invaders, but once on the ground we have no need to send our troops into combat for some paltry sums! We can quite easily shell the area into nothing and then send in a clean up force to ensure that no invaders remain! And if XCOM wants to send their own troops to combat the downed invaders, they can pay for salvage rights and make the attempt themselves to divest the current holders from the existent resources. My brother, you are correct but you mistake my relief, my goal, and my support for our brothers and sisters in this world.
